EFCC redeploys financial intelligence unit boss

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has redeployed the former Acting Director of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, Ms. Juliet Ibebaku, to the legal department of the commission.

Ibebaku had previously served in the External Cooperation Unit and the Training and Research Institute (Now EFCC Academy) before her redeployment to the NFIU.
A statement by the commission stated that Mr. Francis Usani of the legal department had been posted to head the NFIU in acting capacity.
The EFCC said, “The movement of the commission’s officers is part of routine administrative activity of the commission and is far from the drama being peddled by some people alleging intimidation.
“The EFCC does not need mobile policemen to “occupy” its own premises nor does it require a riot squad to redeploy its own staff. The redeployment is therefore part of the re-tooling and re -alignment process by the management of the commission to ensure that the NFIU, which is an autonomous unit, domiciled in the commission, rises up to current challenges.
“The commission wishes to assure that the NFIU will continue to discharge its duties in line with its mandate and in accordance with best practices.
