2014: I won’t reverse my decision to contest – Bamidele

A governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has said that no amount of political intimidation will frustrate his resolve to contest the April 2014 governorship election in the state.

A statement by the representative of Ado/Irepodun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency in Ekiti State at the National Assembly, Opeyemi Bamidele, on Friday, warned that the struggle to rescue Ekiti from political and economic doldrums should not be met with political violence.

The statement said that the lawmaker would launch a platform that would bring about political revolution for the uplift of Ekiti State.

Bamidele is at logger-heads with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress over failure to conduct a governorship primary.

It said “The people should not despair over the killings and maiming of my supporters. The fight for 2014 is a revolution to reclaim Ekiti’s glory. I won’t reverse my decision to contest.”

But the state Publicity Secretary of APC, Segun Dipe, said in a reaction that Bamidele was behind the recent political crises in the state.

He said, “There is clear evidence that Bamidele is the mastermind of the crises he is alleging. He is the one importing strangers into the state. He should check his strategies and stop deceiving his followers.

“All this is a figment of his imagination and creation. At no time will the governor induce anybody to cause crisis. Governor Kayode Fayemi made it clear that there is nobody’s blood that is worth shedding for political or any other reason”.
