POLICE RESCUE ‘ONE CHANCE’ VICTIM

Men of the FCT police command in the early hours of yesterday rescued one Okpa Fidelia from the hands of ‘one chance’ operators.
A police source said the lady fell victim when she boarded a Dutse-bound painted taxi from Banex.
The source added that the driver of the taxi had instructed the victim to pay her fare midway.
“As she opened her bag to give him the money, she noticed that N29,000 was missing. When she tried to raise alarm, one of the suspects, now at large, insisted on alighting from the victim’s side of the vehicle. He opened the door and pushed the woman out of the vehicle while the vehicle zoomed off,” the source hinted.
According to the source, attention of policemen on surveillance were drawn when the woman was pushed out of the car and she later told them about the incidence.
“Our men chased the taxi and were able to arrest two of the three suspects who were taken to Maitama division,” he said.
When contacted, FCT police spokesperson, DSP Hyelhira Altine Daniel, confirmed the incident and stated that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime.
She advised residents to be careful when boarding  taxis.
