More Troubles for PDP As Akpabio, Other Governors Abandon Jonathan At Eagle Square
The split witnessed in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP during the special national convention of the party in Abuja yesterday may just be the beginning of more troubles for the party if the actions of Governors in the party are anything to go by.
But for Governor Usman Dakingari of Kebbi state and Isah Yuguda of Bauchi state, all the governors elected on the platform of the Party, who had attended the convention at the eagle square left President Goodluck Jonathan at the venue on Saturday night.
The governors, after hearing about the walkout of six of their colleagues, left the venue of the party’s convention one after the other, dejected.
Aside the governors, many supporters of the party who may be loyal to their governors also left the venue of the mini convention, leaving a handful of supporters till the close of the event.
Others who stayed with President Jonathan till the end of the event were his deputy, Namadi Sambo, factional National Chairman of the party, Dr. Bamanga Tukur and few others.
Surprisingly, Governor Godswill Akpabio also did not stay till the close of the programme. Akpabio, who had earlier spoken eloquently and assured the President of the support of his fellow governors, walked out of the venue with his head bowed, looking dejected and unhappy.
