OBASANJO TO TAMBUWAL: I’M BEHIND YOU

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday said he was happy with the way Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has been leading the House of Representatives.
“I like you, in fact I love you, please go ahead with what you are doing at the National Assembly. I am behind you,” Obasanjo said in Sokoto at a ceremony to lay the foundation of phase 2 of the Usman Faruq Secretariat.
“I am a principled person and I like the way you run the affairs of the House of Representatives,” he added, quoted in a statement by a spokesman for Tambuwal, Mr Andrew Oota.
Daily Trust reports that during his visit to Sokoto, Obasanjo paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who he commended for “tireless efforts” at promoting unity in the country.
He urged leaders to live up to the expectation of their poeple.
“Leaders must live up to the expectation of the people. God ordained leaders to satisfy the needs of all their followers.  We need leaders who will live up to the duties and responsibilities which God has put on their shoulders,” he said.
Obasanjo also inaugurated the state’s N2.6 billion Asari water treatment plant. In his speech at the commissioning, Governor Aliyu Wamakko said the plant would provide additional 20 million gallons of water per day to the people.
