ANAMBRA: APC TO HOLD PRIMARIES AS EZEMMO REFUSES TO STEP DOWN

The All Progressives Congress (APC)  will hold primaries to decide who between  Senator  Chris Ngige and Chief Godwin Ezeemo is the candidate of the party as Ezemmo has refused to abide by the advice of the leaders of the party to step down for Ngige.
One of the aspirants Hygers Igwebuike however resigned his membership of the party leaving only the two to slug it out.
Interim national publicity secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, confirmed that the party will be holding primaries for Anambra election by September, but said no specific date has been fixed. He said the two aspirants will soon be screened before the conduct of the party’s primaries.
The decision to hold the primaries, according to sources, is due to the insistence of Ezemmo that the party must hold an election to pick its flag-bearer for the Anambra guber race saying he won’t accept a consensus arrangement.
Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha had in Abuja announced  that the national secretariat of the  party had picked Ngige as the consensus candidate for the party.
But Ezemmo had reacted angrily calling for a formal primary pledging to support whoever wins the ticket  if he loses the contest.
