Our governors will ignore APC’s invitation -PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has said it is none of its governors will answer the invitation extended to them by the All Progressives Congress asking them join the opposition political party.

Rather, it added that the peace move by President Goodluck Jonathan and some leaders of the party should be allowed to work by the seven aggrieved governors.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Abdulahi Jalo, who stated this in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Saturday, added that it was also wrong for the APC to have started what he called “campaign” when the Independent National Electoral Commission had yet to lift the ban on political activities in the country.

Jalo said the invitations being extended to the aggrieved governors by the opposition party amounted to a campaign.

He said the APC was trampling on the magnanimity of Jonathan, asking whether the party could have done so if it was former President Olusegun Obasanjo that was still in power.

He said, “This is a clear breach of the Electoral Act and we hope that the INEC and the security agencies are aware of this.

“The leaders of the APC should retrace their steps and stop this campaign. They should stop trampling on the magnanimity of the President.

“Can they do this during the regime of President Obasanjo, Going from one place to the other under the guise of wooing governors, but doing subtle campaign?”
