External forces behind fresh Jos crisis – Senator

One of the representatives of Plateau State in the National Assembly, Senator Gyaang Pwajok,  on Thursday raised the alarm that professionally-trained, fully-armed non-residents of Plateau State carried out the bloody attacks on four villages and killed many people on Monday and Tuesday.

Pwajok, who addressed journalists in Abuja, lamented that the relative peace  and calm being enjoyed by his people were punctured on Monday when armed men invaded Tatu, Rawuru, Bok, and Dorang villages simultaneously and killed 45 people.

He said key stakeholders in the state had agreed to maintain the peace, but that “agents of peace are turning the hands of the  clock, backward.”

He said a situation whereby professionally-trained armed men were hired to destroy harmless old people and children in their sleep, was a dangerous phenomenon.

He said, “Many people had fled the villages while  others including a man, his wife and five children,  were burnt beyond recognition during the attack which lasted over one hour.”

Pwajok expressed worry over media reports on the issue which described the attackers as unknown men.

He  lamented that the state governor had raised the alarm a day before the attack but necessary agencies, who should act on the alert, and prevent the unfortunate incident, ignored it.

He said, “This is an organised and coordinated simultaneous attack. The development is condemnable.

“Media reportage is about figure and not specific individuals who were victims. Most of the victims were children below 10 years.

“The Peace process, which is on course,  is threatened now  because the identities of the attackers are not known because they are external organised terrorist squad.”
