Woman beat the boy with a stick for disturbing her
A 32-year-old tailor, Juliet Omo, was on Monday charged with assaulting a three-year -old child at a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The accused, who resides in Illegbo Eremi, Badagry, according to the prosecutor, Innocent Uko, on December 23, assaulted the boy by beating him with a stick.
“The accused started beating the boy for coming into her shop to disturb her while she sewed a cloth. She broke his left arm in the process,” the prosecutor told the court.
Mr. Uko said the offence contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The counsel to the accused, Bankole Ajose, pleaded with the court to grant her bail, saying the offence was bailable.
The Magistrate, Abiodun Etti, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with a surety in like sum.
He said the surety should provide evidence of tax payment to the state government as part of the bail conditions.
Further hearing was fixed for January 20.
