Police arrest 31 suspected robbers, kidnappers in Delta

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State,  Mr Ikechukwu Aduba, on Monday said  the command had recently apprehended 31 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in the state.

Aduba, who disclosed this to newsmen in Warri, said 140 ammunition were recovered from the criminals.

He said the sophisticated intelligence network in the state was responsible for the arrest.

The commissioner commended the vigilance groups for their cooperation in the fight against crime in the state.

“Most of the achievements recorded in the state is through the assistance of the vigilance groups and the immediate communities which provided useful information to us.

“Recently, we were able to recover two AK 47 riffles from cultists in Otu-Jeremi. So, there is intelligence network,” he said.

On the allegation that kidnappers were using cattle rearers to hide victims, Aduba said the command would constitute a committee comprising the police, State Security Service and the Fulanis to find solution to the problem.

Aduba added that the command’s collaboration with  Edo and Anambra state police commissioners had started yielding good results.
