EFCC re-arraigns Sylva for alleged N19bn scam Tuesday

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will on Tuesday re-arraign former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre  Sylva, and six others on 42 counts before Justice A. R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The other accused persons are Francis Okuburo, Gbenga Balogun, Samuel Ogbuku,  Marlin Maritime Limited, Eat Catering Services Limited and Haloween Blue Construction and Logistics Limited.
According to a statement on Monday by the Acting Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, Sylva’s re-arraignment is sequel to fresh evidence linking him with a bouquet of fraudulent transactions that border on money laundering during his tenure as governor of Bayelsa State between 2009-2012.
The anti-graft agency had earlier arraigned Sylva over six counts of criminal conspiracy and conversion of state’s property and resources amounting to N2.45bn before Justice Adamu Bello of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The Prosecution counsel, Festus Keyamo, said Sylva allegedly perpetrated the fraud through proxies under the false pretences of using the amount to augment salaries of the Bayelsa State Government.
