Oyo State police command yesterday paraded a self-acclaimed lawyer, Babatunde Oretuyi and 11 other dare-devil armed robbers, who specialises in depriving their victims of their exotic cars and other valuables, including jewelries, cell phones and laptops.
State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Indabawa, while parading the suspects, said their arrest followed their incrimination in a recent car snatching operation carried out in Ogbomoso and some towns in some neighbouring states.
He said thorough investigation by officers and men of the State Anti Robbery Squad specifically incriminated the self-acclaimed lawyer as the main conduit for the disposal of the vehicles snatched by the armed gangsters.
According to him, as at the last count, 11 of the recovered stolen cars were traced to Oretuyi, who sold them at exorbitant prices to others who claimed to be car dealers.
Paraded alongside Oretuyi are; Olabode Seun, 27; Oyeyipo Ayomide, 26; Olanrewaju Ayomide, 23; Olatide Oladapo, 37; Abiodun Abdul- Malik Ojulari, 32 and Afolabi Akeem, 30. The others are; Isaac Nwose, 42; Segun Adeyale, 39; William Asu Atta, 47; Patrick Ogah, 35 and David Umar, 39.
The police boss said on investigation, members of the syndicate who often killed those who resists, also opened up on their various bloody operations in Oyo and the neighbouring states, adding that their confessions led to the arrest of the entire syndicate members, particularly the receivers of their loots, who commercially disposed them off, notably the self-acclaimed lawyer.
