Looted funds: Fayemi drops plan to probe Oni
Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi may have dropped the plan to probe the administration of former Governor Segun Oni.
Indication to this emerged on Thursday when the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo, during a Town Hall meeting at Efon Alaaye, said only God would judge those who looted the state resources.
Fayemi, on June 1 after winning the appeal filed against him by Oni at the Supreme Court, said he would probe the past administration in the state.
But on Thursday Ekundayo said, "We have left those who looted the state's treasury in the hands of God. Good enough, some of them have gone hungrier now even more than when they came into office. The punishment of God is even fiercer than that of man. Surely, they will face the judgment of God someday.
"Even if they are probed and eventually jailed, they will get out of the prison one day. But when you are facing God's punishment, you may not get out of it forever except for God'smercy."
The commissioner also promised that the Fayemi administration would continue to use the resources of the state to develop its people.
He assured the people of Efon Alaaye that the state government would collaborate with security agencies to stop criminals from further terrorising the town.
The commissioner said the state government facilitated the deployment of soldiers at the Efon Junction to check the activities of hoodlums.
