Lagos ‘ll be among most urbanised cities in 2015 – Fashola

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, said the current growth rate and industrial activities in the state would make it among the most urbanised cities in the world by 2015 with the possibility of overtaking New York City, in the United States of America.

The governor called for support and assistance from stakeholders in the state to ensure accelerated and even development in the education sector.

Fashola noted that the population of Lagos was currently in excess of 18 million and if the growth rate was sustained, the state would have more than 20 million before the end of 2015.

He spoke at the hand-over of two blocks of classrooms donated to Anthony Model Primary School, Anthony Village, by Simon Lions Club, Anthony and hosted by Mrs. Lauretta Onyima, President 2012, 13, Simon Lion Club.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, said: “A mega city like Lagos faces numerous challenges and would readily accept effective collaborations and assistance from various stakeholders.
