Ogun PPRO arrests police impersonator


The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, has arrested a dismissed policeman for impersonating a police officer.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Adejobi arrested the suspect, Sule Samuel, in Ewekoro area of the state after the suspect contravened the traffic law.

Adejobi said in a statement on Wednesday, that a pair of police boots as well as other incriminating items were found on the suspect.

He said, "The command's PPRO, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while on routine surveillance patrol on June 23 at 11.30am at Ewekoro area of the state intercepted a fake police corporal driving a blue Volkswagen Golf car with number plate BE 77 LSD.

"The reckless driving of the man attracted the PPRO, who forced him to stop. When interrogated, the father of three, Mr. Sule Samuel, claimed to be a police corporal with force number 241576 attached to Police Mobile Force 22 Lagos.

"But he later confessed, after thorough interrogation, that he had been dismissed from the police since 2006. A pair of police boots, a green beret, police belt, police identity card, tear gas and jack knife were recovered from him.

"He is currently with the state Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for further investigation."
