Lagos Markets Closed In Honor Of Alhaja Abibat Mogaji
The business of buying and selling has been put on hold in most open markets in Lagos in honour of Alhaja Abibat Mogaji, mother of former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who died on Saturday.
At the popular Katangura Market by Super Bus-stop along Lagos-Abeokuta Express Road on Monday, the hustling and bustling that associated with the market were missing.
Though, despite the shutdown, some hidden market transactions were going on while goods were been impounded from those who refused to close their shops by market taskforce.
A trader who spoke to our correspondent said, "We need to pay her the last respect. This is not the only market affected, the closure of the market affected our business and our customers, but by Wednesday the market will be reopened."
Alhaja Mogaji popularly known as Iya-Loja of Lagos (mother of the market) of Lagos State and President-General, Association of Nigeria Market Women and Men died on Saturday at her residence in Adigun Street, Ikeja, Lagos*
