Majority of Nigerians believe the government is performing poorly in managing the nation, a survey by the Cleen Foundation and Afrobarometer and the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana shows.
The report titled “Second Dissemination of the Findings of the Afrobarometer Round 5 Survey in Nigeria” which was publicly presented yesterday in Abuja said 81 percent believed government’s handling of the economy was ‘very bad and fairly bad.’
Cleen Foundation Chairman of Board of Directors, Prof. Etannibi Alemika, said out of the 2,400 adult Nigerians respondents interviewed between October 29 and November 30, 2013, 81 percent believed government’s handling of the nation’s economy was poor‘very bad and fairly bad’ while 19 percent believed it was ‘very well andfairly well’ handled.
The majority 67 percent also hold it that the condition of the nation’s economy was ‘very bad’, 42 percent saying ‘fairly bad’, while 25 percent and 42 percent said it was ‘very good’ and ‘fairly good’ respectively.
The survey however show that 51 percent respondents believed their personal living conditions is ‘much better or better’ compared to 12 months ago; 37 percent saying it was ‘much worse or worse’ and 21percent holding it that it has become worsened.
