Police Defuse Bomb Hidden In Shop In Jos The Plateau State police anti-bomb squad Monday discovered and defused an improvised explosive device in a rented shop at Anguwan Rogo community of Jos North local government area of the state. It was learnt that the owner of the building where the shop is situated wanted to rent it out to another tenant after the one year rent of the initial occupier expired six months ago but kept the shop under lock and key. The landlord, it was further gathered, reported the situation to the police on Sunday so that they could force the shop open and take record of goods, if any, left behind by the tenant. It was upon forcing the doors to the shop open that explosive substances were discovered and the anti-bomb squad was contacted. The items discovered inside the shop include an Improvised Explosive Device, cables, three bags of fertilizer, canisters of tear gas, a police live jacket, some uniforms belonging to an aid group, a drilling machine and remote controls. Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state DSP Adigun Salawu said he will address the press today on the matter.
