Ogun concludes plan to relocate traders at Kara along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Ogun State Government said it has concluded plans to move traders at Kara cattle market in Isheri area of the state to a better equipped site in order to enhance profitability and production of healthy meat for consumption.
The State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, said this when he inspected the market at its present location along with members of his cabinet.
“We will build a place for the cattle traders equipped with modern amenities including a modern abattoir, as you all know that whatever project we do in Ogun state, it is always in line with Ogun standard,” Mr. Amosun said.
He said that the road leading to the new market site would be tarred, adding that adequate security arrangements would also be put in place.
Mr. Amosun commended the traders for letting peace reign in the area and urged them to be vigilant at all times so that criminals do not infiltrate, saying if this happened, it would threaten existing peace.
In their responses, representatives of the traders pledged their continuous support for the Mr. Amosun led administration. The traders said the planned relocation would be embraced with both hands.
Meanwhile, the governor has ordered the immediate stoppage of further dredging of the Ogun River at Isheri because of its possible effect on the environment.
Mr. Amosun, who gave the directive during an on-the-spot assessment of the river, said that government would not fold its arms and watch some selfish individuals continue to milk the state dry of the revenue needed to embark on developmental projects for the benefit of the general masses.
“They just come here to commit illegality and siphon the much needed revenue we need to develop our State, We will not allow this to continue,” Mr. Amosun stated.
The Governor said his administration would take immediate steps to regulate operations at the river in conformity with modern ways of doing dredging business.
“We are going to be technically involved as a government. All professionals in the area of dredging will be engaged to advise government and put this place in order. If flooding occurs here, it is going to affect many communities simply because of the selfish interest of some people,” the governor said.*premium times
