Huge explosion at a fertiliser plant in Texas.



It happened in the town of West - not far from Waco. The authorities say a number of people have died, although it will be some time before they can give an exact figure.

The explosion happened around 8pm and reports suggest it could be heard more than 40 miles away. Eye-witnesses say a 4 block area around the factory has been devastated.

An apartment complex nearby was reduced to a skeleton, according to the Texas fire department.
