Gunmen kill ex-Kwara NMDAN vice-chairman Dr Adewunmi Ariyo
Gunmen have killed a former Vice Chairman of Kwara State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Dental Association of Nigeria, Dr. Adewunmi Ariyo.
The 42-year-old Ariyo, a father of three, was murdered at his residence in Basin area of Ilorin, Kwara State about 10 pm on Thursday.
The deceased worked in the dental department of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. Our correspondent gathered that the assassins had laid in ambush for the victim near the entrance of his house, and later attacked him.
They were said to have dragged him with his shirt to his sitting room, collected his car key and a DVD player before shooting him.
The hoodlum were said to have later accosted the deceased's wife, who is a nursing mother, and demanded that she should cooperate with them and hand over her gold jewellery.
Sympathisers, friends and family members were seen mourning Ariyo when our correspondent visited the deceased's house about 4.30 pm on Friday.
The Kwara State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdul Bube, said he had sent investigators and detectives to find out more about the incident.
