Baga Attack: Repelling Boko Haram Attack On People Watching A Football By Soldiers Was The Cause of the Baga Attack.





The clash between the Islamic terror group, Boko Haram and the Nigerian soldiers was set off when Boko Haram attacked Baga residents who were watching a soccer match on an open-air television (gidan TV).
The rocket-propelled grenades fired by the fundamentalist group set most of the surrounding tached Houses on fire and causing civilian deaths.

Efforts of the JTF to stop Boko haram's attack on people watching television was the cause of the recent fight in Baga, as the terrorist were armed with more sophisticated weapons.

Troops engaged the gunmen but had to withdraw under fire from insurgents, who were heavily armed. Some resident said the militants were armed with rocket propelled grenades. But the troops later returned in greater numbers.

Brig. Gen. Austin Edokpaye, the local commander, sad that, “it was around that mosque that our men were attacked, with several of them injured, and an officer killed."
