American Man survives both Boston Marathon bomb blast and Texas fertilizer factory explosion

A US man had two amazing escapes after surviving both the Boston Marathon bomb and the Texas fertiliser factory explosion.

Joe Berti had finished running the marathon just seconds before the huge explosions near the finish line, reports The Mirror.

He escaped unscathed - and so did his wife Amy and their friends who were just 10 yards away from the blast which killed three people.

Mrs Bertie and a friend were hit by shrapnel but were relatively unhurt but a woman stood next to them lost a leg.

Mr Berti, a father-of-two, said: "I had just run to the finish line and like 30 seconds later I heard the first explosion, and then turned around and saw the smoke.

"I knew immediately that it was a bomb ... Then the second explosion occurred, and I saw a wave of

people running."

They left Boston the next day and returned home to Texas, hoping to get life back to normal with their two girls, ages 8 and 11.

But two days later, Mr Berti was heading home from a meeting when he saw black smoke up ahead.

As he drove closer, he saw - and felt - his second explosion in two days while some of the debris landed on his car.

The blast in West, near Waco, killed at least five people and injured more than 160.

Mrs Berti said: "We are just praying for the people who were so much less fortunate than we were."
