Job Racket:FMC Owerri sells 3000 forms for 30 Job vacancies
The Federal Medical Center,Owerri sold over 3,000 forms for only 30 Job vacancies.Job seekers paid various sums of money to purchase them with the hope of securing employment. The payment ranging between N5,000 and N10,000 depending on the category of Job they were applying for.
The forms were sold to attract revenue for the health institution which contravenes the principles of employment.
To buttress the fact, an applicant (name withheld) applied for Health Attendant and was given a receipt No. 860596 dated October 19, 2012 for payment of Employment form for N3,000.00.
Some applicants who felt that they were ripped off by that federal health institution have cried out, complaining of the shoddy manner they were treated during the interview as most of them did not see their names shortlisted for the interview.
In a petition to the Minister of Health by Imo Transparency Group (ITG) and made available to THISDAY, President and Secretary, Comrades Reginald Nnorom and Camilius Ohakwe of ITG, complained of several irregularities going on at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, accusing the Medical Director, Dr. Angela Uwakwem of high-handedness, overstay of her tenure (having stayed for a period of 10 years – Acting Medical Director for six years 2003-2009 and substantive Medical Director for four years 2009-June 2013), and official recklessness.
