Hospital authorities confirmed the casualties.
Two persons were killed in a ghastly motor accident involving two vehicles in Ijebu-Ode in Ogun late on Tuesday.
The accident also left 16 others with various degrees of injuries.
The accident occurred at Aperin Road along the Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan Expressway. It involved a Sienna vehicle with registration number SMK 760 AP and a Mercedes Benz lorry with registration number XV 353 MUS.
It was learnt, however, that the Sienna vehicle, which took off from Ijebu-Ode, was heading to Ibadan before it had a burst tyre and had a head collision with the lorry.
The driver and a passenger in front of the vehicle were said to have died on the spot, while 16 others from both vehicles sustained serious injuries.
The corpses of those who lost their lives had been deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital, while the injured were receiving treatment in the same hospital.
One of the survivors, Rebecca John, while narrating how the accident happened, said that she was travelling with her family members.
“We were going to Ibadan to attend the on-going convention of the Gospel Faith Mission International, before the accident happened,” she said.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Wellington Ogunsanya, who confirmed the death of the two persons, said that their bodies had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
He said that out of the 12 victims who were brought to the hospital, seven sustained serious injuries.
At Roona Hospital, two of the four victims who were admitted in the hospital sustained minor injuries, while the other two were in critical condition.
