The floods occurred in 10 local governments.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said that 575 persons were displaced in six of 10 local government areas of Kano State, ravaged by flood on Friday.
The NEMA Zonal Coordinator, North-West zone, Musa Ilallah, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Tuesday.
He said one person died in the flood, while four were declared missing in the incident.
‘’Our officials have so far assessed six out of the 10 affected local government areas in the state and 575 persons were displaced in those areas,’’ Mr. Ilallah said.
Mr. Ilallah named the six local government areas that the agency carried out the assessment as Nasarawa, Gwale, Tarauni, Kano Municipal, Fagge and Dala. The remaining are Makoda, Dawakin Tofa, Kumbotso and Takai.
He said the agency would forward an interim report to its headquarters in Abuja before assessing the remaining four local government areas.
‘’We shall submit an interim report to our headquarters in Abuja after which we shall come and assess the remaining areas before the week runs out,’’ he said.
The coordinator thanked the Kano State Government for its prompt response and gave an assurance that the agency would soon come to the aid of victims to alleviate their sufferings.
