Trainee aircraft misses runway in Ilorin
A trainee aircraft, No 5N-BRM, belonging to International Aviation College, has veered off a runway while landing on a solo flight at the Ilorin Airport.
This was contained in a statement by Mr. Yakubu Datti, the Coordinating General Manager, Aviation Parastatals, on Thursday in Abuja.
The statement said one pilot was on board and no casualty was recorded in the accident.
“The aircraft stopped safely a few metres beside the runway, normal flights to the airport were not disrupted as a result of the incident,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau and other relevant agencies are already investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“It must, however, be pointed out that this is normal in an aviation training institution.
“This clarification is necessary to guard against mischief makers, who may want to create unnecessary excitement,” the statement added.
