The National Chairman, Social Democratic Party, Chief Olu Falae, has said the party would support the second term agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan for progress and stability of the nation.
Falae, who was represented by the state Chairman of SDP in Ekiti State, Ayo Adekola, at the party’s Southern Senatorial District meeting in Ikere Ekiti on Thursday, described continuity as a vital tool for development.
On the 2014 governorship election in the state, he said SDP would concede the governorship ticket in Ekiti State to the South Senatorial District to bridge the gap with other zones that produced governors for two terms each.
He said, “We are aware that the majority of people in this zone are clamouring for change.
“The newly revived party will bring about desired change. We shall take over governance from the All Progressives Congress in all the states of the South-West.”
Saying SDP took its roots from Afenifere and the old Unity Party of Nigeria, founded by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he added, “We have agreed to concede the governorship slot of the party to the South senatorial district.
“This is the only senatorial district in the state, which is yet to get a taste of the governorship slot of the state.”
He added that the SDP government would not deduct from the allocation meant for the local government councils in the state if voted to power.
Falae said, “We will not tamper with the allocation of the councils, our government intends to establish cottage industries in different parts of the state.
“Welfare of workers and teachers will be our priority and we will provide employment for the teeming masses.”
