MINISTRY SAYS DOESN’T KNOW WHY 10 PTDF STAFF WERE SACKED

A fresh twist has been added to the controversial disengagement of 10 management staff of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) as officials from the ministry of petroleum resources have claimed ignorance of the reasons behind the disengagement of the workers.
Both spokespersons of the ministry and the PTDF said they were not aware of the reasons why the management staffers were asked to go when asked by Daily Trust on Tuesday.
The 10 PTDF officials were issued their disengagement letters on Friday, October 18, 2013. The letters did not state why they were disengaged.
Speaking to our reporter on Tuesday, one of the affected officials and former acting Executive Secretary of the Fund, Mr Jolomi Arenyeka said the letters didn’t contained any reasons why they were asked to go by the ministry. Director of Information at the ministry of petroleum, Mr Kingsley Agha claimed ignorance of the reasons behind the disengagement.
“I only read about the disengagement in the pages of papers. I asked Kalu, he said it is true that some management staff were disengaged,” Agha said.
Also, the Spokesperson of the PTDF Mr Kalu Otisi said the fund has no knowledge of the reasons the 10 officials were disengaged. He said the directive came from the ministry, which the Fund management passed to the affected officers.
When asked whether the memo from the ministry contained reasons for the sack, he said “I can’t say anything on that, it is the ministry issue.”
Also source at the ministry personnel department said even the department was not carried along in the disengagement of the PTDF staff.
