Ogun Assembly threatens to sanction commissioners

Chairman, Ogun House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Akanbi Bankole, has said commissioners in the state, who are not present during oversight functions by the Assembly will be sanctioned.

Bankole said this on Wednesday in Abeokuta during the committee’s oversight tour to the Ministry of Finance.

He said, “I am not impressed with the absence of the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, and Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mrs. Yewande Muoyo.

“They are the ones we have come to see. We want to hear from them personally, instead of the permanent secretaries or directors.

“I want to sound a note of warning to other ministries yet to be visited that the commissioners, the permanent secretaries and directors must be available at every visit by the Ogun Assembly.”

The chairman, however, said the tour was to enable the House to know the extent of progress so far made by the ministries.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Finance, Mrs. Ajibola Chokor, said the state had introduced cash-less policy in its tertiary institutions since August.
