The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), two agencies under the Ministry of Interior have taken on one another over a disputed land adjoining them at Sauka along airport road in Abuja where the offices of the immigration and the Civil Defence Academy are located.
Daily Trust findings revealed that, the NIS the older agency is claiming that it got the whole land where the NSCDC College is presently allocated to it before it was recognised during the Obasanjo administration.
Our reporter gathered that the problem started long ago and was at its peak when the Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service Mr. David Parradang resumed.
A reliable source revealed that the immigration service earlier abandoned the place because of its location and the nature of the land at the time, thinking that the land would take time and resources to develop.
When contacted on the matter, the spokesperson of the NIS Mr. Chukwuemeka Obuah confirmed the situation adding that it is an in-house dispute which will be resolved amicably, while the NSCDC spokesperson Mr. Emmanuel Okey denied the existence of the land dispute between the two agencies.
