Gana heads Lar’s burial committee

The Plateau State Government on Tuesday constituted a committee for the burial of its first civilian governor, Chief Solomon Lar, who died in a United States hospital penultimate Wednesday.

A statement by the Director of Press Affairs, Office of the Governor, Mr. James Mannok, named a former information minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, as the chairman of the committee, while Mr. I. D. Gyang is the secretary.

Membership of the committee is drawn from Plateau and Nasarawa States, Lar’s family, the Presidency, as well as the office of the Senate President.

Also to be represented on the committee is the office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party as well as associates of the late elder statesman.

The statement said the committee had been mandated to immediately commence preparations toward the event.
