District head arrested for robbery, rape

The Police Command in northwest Nigerian state of Zamfara on Monday arrested the Acting District Head of Keta Village in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara, for alleged complicity in armed robbery and rape.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP. Lawal Abdullahi, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the incident in Gudau.
He said that the acting district head, Mainasara Yandoto, along with three others, were part of the gang that attacked the homes of five persons in Keta Village.
Abdullahi said that the gang had during the operation, robbed the victims of N115,000 and foodstuff worth N100,000.
The PPRO said that Zayyanu Amadu, Idi Namarake, Yabo Salisu and Yandoto were helping in police investigations.
He said that during the operation, the suspects held one of their victim, Muhammad Lawali, hostage and gang-raped his wife.
Abdullahi also said that Yandoto had collected N20,000 from the gang as his share, while N113,000 had been recovered.
