Cleric urges religious tolerance for Nigeria’s stability

The Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Ikeja branch, Lagos State, Bishop Fred Eghohas, has urged Nigerians to continue to embrace religious tolerance in the interest of unity and development of the nation.

The cleric, who condemned the spate of killings in the northern part of the country during a press conference in Ikeja on Tuesday, said various religious bodies should instead, pray for Nigeria to overcome her challenges.

He said, “Nigeria does not need any other problem at this time, except our prayers and our resolve to live together as one irrespective of religious differences.

Eghohas said the PFN would be leading the initiative to pray for the progress and unity of Nigeria in October 18 at a praise worship night.

He said the night themed ‘Gathering of the Eagles,’ was aimed at seeking God’s intervention in the challenges facing the country.

He noted that the only way to resolve the nation’s challenges was to call on God to save Nigeria, adding that there was no better time for the programme than when the country was marking its 53 years of independence.

Egho said, “On that day, we will be praying for the nation. We know that prayer is what the nation needs at this time. We cannot carry guns because that is not needed at this time. What is paramount at this moment is to go spiritual for the nation to achieve giant stride before it marks another year of existence.”

He stated that the programme would also be used to  present awards to churches and corporate organisations.
