The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Inspector General of Police, Mohamamed Abubakar to publish without further delay the police report on the N250 million that was reportedly found in the company of an aide to Anambra's Governor Peter Obi.
This request contained is a statement made on Tuesday by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary for the South-East, Osita Okechukwu, Daily Post reports.
"We want the IG to let us know where the investigation stopped. Anambra people deserve to know about the money found in Governor Obi's convoy, especially now that they are going to polls to decide who becomes the next governor of the state after Governor Obi," the statement said.
It will be recalled, that in June 2009, the police allegedly intercepted a convoy in front of the Governor's International office in Apapa Lagos and found ten suitcases with N250 million, accompanied by one of Obi's aides.
The APC also expressed shock that although the police were yet to conclude investigation of the case, the Anambra State House of Assembly passed a resolution that discharged Obi from the matter.
APC Publicity Secretary explained that the report must be published because any vote for Chief Willy Obiano, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the November 2 Anambra governorship election, could translate into "a vote for continuation of the monthly haulage of N250 million from the state".
"The fact that Governor Obi is projecting Obiano, a man who has sufficient interest in Fidelity Bank like himself, makes our fears more worrisome.", Okechukwu added.
He also stated that for seven years, Obi never bought any traditional ruler a vehicle, but now, on the eve of the election, he had been going about presenting jeeps to traditional rulers and town union presidents in a desperate bid to install his business partner.
