Anambra Poll: Vice President Sambo leads 60-member PDP Campaign Committee

The PDP also directs state chapters, others to set up disciplinary committees
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has constituted a 60-member National Campaign Council, headed by Vice President Namadi Sambo, for the November 16 gubernatorial election in Anambra State.
The PDP also directed its zonal, state, local government and ward chapters to constitute their disciplinary committees in order to ensure discipline in the party.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, on Wednesday, said its National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwom, would serve as the Secretary of the Campaign Committee, which would be inaugurated on Thursday.
Mr. Metuh said the committee was expected to work round the clock to ensure the victory of the party in the election.
The statement further called on all members of the PDP to close ranks and support the party’s candidate, Tony Nwoye.
Mr. Nwoye, who won the August 24 primary election of the PDP, was finally cleared by the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, last week to contest the election.
A Federal High Court, also in Port Harcourt, had recognized Nicholas Ukachukwu, who came second in the primaries, as the duly nominated candidate before the ruling of the Court of Appeal.
Also on Wednesday, the national leadership of the PDP directed the party leaderships in the zones, states, local government and wards to establish Disciplinary Committees in accordance with Section 57 (1) (2) Constitution of the party.
According to Mr. Metuh in a statement, the directive given by the party’s National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur was “in keeping with the focused determination of the National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure discipline and loyalty at all levels.”
The party asked the disciplinary committees to strictly comply with the provisions of the PDP Constitution and the principles of equity and fair hearing in dealing with all disciplinary cases at their various levels.
The party’s national leadership had last week inaugurated a seven-member National Disciplinary Committee, NDC, headed by Second Republic Transport Minister, Umaru Dikko.
