Police smash 10-man robbery gang in Jigawa

The Police in Jigawa on Monday said they arrested 10 suspects in Dutse for alleged armed robbery.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Mr Theophilus Kayode, told newsmen that the arrest was made possible with the cooperation of members of the public.
Kayode said that on Aug. 12, at about 2:00 am information was received from a Good Nigerian that a group of armed men was operating in Babura.
He said as soon as the information was received, a police patrol team attached to the Babura Division swung into action.
He said, consequently, four suspects were arrested while others took their heels.
The CP said that some youths assisted the police to arrest the fleeing suspects and brought them to the police station for interrogation.
Kayode said that two of the suspects were injured in the process of arrest and gun battle with the police.
“As a result the two suspects died on the way to Babura General Hospital, the corpses of the unidentified suspects were deposited at the Rasheed Shekoni Specialists Hospital Dutse,” the CP added.
Kayode said that the exhibit found on the suspects included: two locally made pistols, four daggers, assorted charms, cell phones and some money.
He said the suspects would be arraigned at the end of the investigation.(NAN)*
