There was pandemonium at the weekend after a car snatcher crashed into vehicles while escaping with a stolen gold-coloured Toyota Sienna car at Utako.
A witness said the owner of the car raised alarm immediately the car was snatched.
Her shout attracted other people around and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) immediately mobilized and gave the snatcher a chase with the assistance of some armed policemen.
The joint effort paid off as the thief abandoned the car at a traffic hold-up in Arab junction Utako and escaped, leaving the vehicle battered.
Meanwhile, about four other vehicles involved in the accident recorded varying degrees of damages as the suspected car snatcher maneuvered through the traffic.
Our reporter learnt that no life was lost in the process.
The recovered vehicle which had its doors and other parts seriously battered was said to have been recovered by the owner.
A police officer at the scene said investigation would commence immediately to ensure that the culprit is tracked down and made to face the full wrath of the law.
