Man bags 15 years in jail over N210,000 fraud

A  40-year-old man, Kenneth Ekeh, was on Tuesday sentenced by an Ibadan Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyaganku  to 15 years imprisonment over N210,000 fraud.
Magistrate Kehinde Omotosho convicted Ekeh of  three charges including obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
Omotosho  did not give the convict option of fine.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Sunday Ojeleye, said that the defendant was arraigned on a five-count charge which  included  obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
Ojeleye said that Ekeh specialises in stealing gas cylinders  and defrauding people, adding that he was arrested on  Nov. 11,  2011.
The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened sections 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria,  2000.
The defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Satisfied with the evidence before her,  Omotoso  sentenced Ekeh to five years imprisonment with hard labour for each of the three charges, adding that the sentence would   run concurrently. (NAN)*
