Ekiti Varsity Fires 3 Lecturers, Expels 24 Students


Due to alleged manipulation of examination marks the Ekiti State University has sacked three senior academic members.

Mr. Bunmi Ajibade said at the weekend the members were also sacked for plagiarism and failure to serve the institution after being sponsored abroad.

The university also expulled 24 students who were found guilty of charges ranging from examination misconduct to being members of unregistered associations.

The governing council took the decision to sack the dons at its 108th meeting held on 13th June, 2013, where the recommendations of the senior staff disciplinary committee on the concerned staff were considered.

The expulsion of the students was confirmed by the university management after the students appeared before the students' disciplinary committee, it was gathered. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the school, Prof Patrick Aina, has approved the lifting of the suspension placed on Students Union activities with immediate effect.

But the statement said only duly registered students that have paid their school fees in full will be allowed to participate in the Students' Union election either as a contestants or voters*
