Three officers of the Boys’ Brigade and members of EYN Church, Wulari have been kidnapped in Jajeri ward, one of the areas that the Boko Haram insurgents dominate in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, DailyPost had learnt during the weekend.
According to some members of the church, the three Brigade officers were last seen in the area when they went on a visit to the church a week ago.
Although, their names were not revealed to DailyPost due to security reasons, a member of the Church who did not want his name in print told our correspondent that, a woman from that area who brought in the news had alleged that she saw three young men tied to stake in one of the houses in the danger zone, and some youth whom she purportedly said were Boko Haram terrorists warned her not to say anything regarding what she saw.
” The woman came to the Church and reported the matter that she saw three young men tied after she learnt that some Boys’ Brigade officers were kidnap, but when she led security officials to the area and to the house, the kidnappers had already left and there was no trace of the victims.”
The member further said that, from what was revealed to members when they went to pray on behalf of the victims, there were no traces of blood in the house, a situation which gives them hope that, the victims might still be alive.
He also said that, the Church was praying and people were urged to continue to pray for the victims, adding that, it is a sad thing to behold. Another member who spoke t DailyPost said that, although, it is sad, the officers made a grievous mistake by visiting the area, knowing very well that the area was highly dangerous for strangers.
DailyPost however, could not get confirmation regarding this claim from any of the security outfits, as there were no phone services in Maiduguri to contact the appropriate authorities, including the police and the JTF.
