latest from Central African Republic
Rebels in the Central African Republic say they have taken the presidential palace in the capital, Bangui. A rebel commander (Colonel Djouma Narkoyo) is quoted as saying that President Bozize was not in the palace at the time. Some reports say he has fled to Congo. The rebels said they were planning to take the national radio station where their leader, Michel Djotodia, would make an address. The rebel advance comes after a peace accord, between the rebel Seleka coalition and the government, collapsed on Wednesday.
