Fraud: Two Lagos PDP Leaders Sent To Kirikiri

Two leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Agege Local Government, Sule Are, 40, and Ayankunle Agbolagade, 45,  are now in Kirikiri prison for their alleged involvement in financial crime. They were arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for obtaining under false pretence and stealing. Although they were granted bail, they were not able to meet the bail condition and had to be sent to Kirikiri. The two party leaders allegedly obtained the sum of N4.9m from one of their members, Chief Akanni Ogunboyejo, under the false pretence of installing him as ward chairman, Agege LGA. Apart from the money, they also allegedly stole his 4-Runner SUV with registration number BH 653 LSD and two Mercedes Benz vehicles with registration numbers, AM 303 and BJ 211 AAA worth millions of naira. P.M.NEWS gathered that the defendants had approached Ogunboyejo and asked him to bring the money and vehicles and promised him the ward chairmanship of the party in the area. They reportedly went to his house at 14, Nisajimi street, Egbeda and collected the money and the vehicles. After doing so they shared everything and did not fulfil their part of the bargain because he failed and another person won the chairmanship seat. When Ogunboyejo demanded his money and his vehicles back and they were not forthcoming, he went to Idimu Police Command and reported what happened and they were arrested and charged to court on a two-count charge of obtaining under false pretence and stealing under the Criminal Code. When they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty. The presiding Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka granted them bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum. They were, however, remanded in prison custody pending when they will fulfil their bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 29 April, 2013. PM NEWS
