Akure chief's daughter kidnapped as reporter regains freedom

A daughter of an Akure High Chief, Ms Kehinde Olusanya, was abducted in the early hours of Sunday by a four-man kidnap gang at her Ayedun residence in Akure, Ondo State. The development came few hours after a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority, Akure, Olubunmi Oke, regained her freedom after over 48 hours in the den of kidnappers. The woman, according to sources, was kidnapped around 1am in the presence of her twin sister Taye, after her captors had gained entrance to their apartment Kehinde is the daughter of the late Chief Josiah Olusanya, the Asamo of Akure. Taiwo is married to a former secretary to Ondo State Government, Mr. Fioye Bajowa, Sources said the sisters lived in the same apartment and ran a boutique and beautician's shop in the town. The kidnappers were said to have broken into the twins' apartment and ordered Kehinde at gun point to follow them They took her away in a car without taking any item from the apartment Her abductors had not established any contact with her family as of Sunday. Meanwhile, Oke, who was released Saturday night, had been reunited with her family.. The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ondo State council, however thanked all those who played one role or another in securing Mrs. Oke's release from the den of kidnappers. A statement on Sunday by the council chairman, Akin Owanikin, said, "We commend the spirited efforts made by the people and we also use this medium to call on the government and security agencies to step up protection of Nigerians in their homes, places of work and in all places.
