Gunmen kill tricycle rider in Aba, make away with vehicle
A resident of the area said that the tricycle operator was shot at around 9 p.m. while the attackers made away with his tricycle.
The Abia Police Command on Thursday confirmed the killing of a tricycle rider identified as Chidera Agu in Aba by unknown gunmen.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Adamu, told journalists that his men have launched a manhunt for the assailants and appealed to anyone with useful information to assist the police.
“The command wants to appeal to residents who have useful information which could lead to the arrest of the culprits to inform the nearest police station in their area,” he said.
The commercial tricyclist was shot at Nwanguma Street in Aba South Local Government Area.
A resident of the area said that the tricycle operator was shot at around 9 p.m. while the attackers made away with his tricycle.
“When we got to the scene, the gunmen had dispersed but we later heard that a patrol team from Ndiegoro Police Division picked the corpse.
“His family went to the police station where they identified him as a tricycle operator,” the resident said.
The family members could not be reached as at the time of filling this report.
The police said the body of late Mr. Agu had been deposited at an undisclosed morgue pending the conclusion of investigation on the matter.
