We won’t join New PDP — Chime, Jang

Some Peoples Democratic Party governors, on Friday, denied being among those reportedly planning to join the New PDP.

The governors are the Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, and the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime.

The governors were reacting to reports that more PDP governors were plotting to ditch Tukur to join their fellow governors in the Abubakar Baraje-led PDP.

Jang, who is also the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum recognised by the Presidency and the party leadership, denied any such plan.

Speaking through his Commissioner for Information and Communication, Abraham Yiljap, Jang said, “I can only ask how can?

“How can he (Jang) abandon a house he built and  live in another person’s house. It is just unthinkable and somebody’s wishful thinking.”

The Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, on his part, said reports about him planning to join the New PDP were baseless rumours, which was the figment of the imagination of mischief makers.

The Director General, Media and Publicity to the Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Maiyaki, said, “This is totally untrue. It is the figment of the imagination of those behind such wild rumours.”

Enugu State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke, also dismissed insinuations that the state Governor,  Sullivan Chime, was planning to pitch his tent with the New PDP.

Ugwoke told one of our correspondents over the phone that such would never happen.

“It is not true at all. That can never happen. Never!

“It would never happen. Governor Chime is 100 per cent with President Jonathan.

“The governor is even the one making others to see reasons to be with the President.”

When  SUNDAY PUNCH visited the PDP secretariat in Enugu, party members spoken to equally described the reported plan as untrue.

When asked, Mr. Loius Amoke, a personal assistant to the Enugu PDP chairman, said, “I don’t know about it (defection), but it can’t be true because no one is even discussing such. Call the chairman to speak to you.”
