I was reading earlier about the Nairobi attack on Reuters’ website and I came across a few comments. What happened in Kenya breaks my heart. It has made me wonder about the history of terrorism, when did this disease seep into the hearts of men, when did it take such a firm grip on our existence? As much as I ache for the thousands and thousands that have been the victims of this insistent maniac need to kill others for the sole sake of them not sharing the same views, I ache just as hard for the cover these monsters use, Islam. Allah’s sacred religion in existence for almost 1500 years. Islam, the Arabic word which literally means peace. Islam, which abolished cruelty, restored the honor of women in a time when it was unthinkable. Islam, which brought hearts and nations together. Islam, which remained blind to the colors of its early faithfuls. Islam, which sent emissaries to great empires and sort friendship. Islam, which never involved women and children in its conflicts.
It gives me great pain to see this religion of equality and humility being tainted, being ridiculed by psychopaths who have this delusion that their actions are divine. These murderers have thrown every kind of insult imaginable on Islam, the very religion they supposedly follow. They have insulted us as Muslims, they have, Subhanallah, in extension insulted Muhammad SAW (whose teachings they claim to live by). The slaughter of unarmed innocent people, including women and children going about their normal day, all the name of “protesting” or “proving a point” is something not even Satan would approve.
My heart bled further as I scrolled through the comments. Harsh words and hatred, born out of what these “Muslims” have shown the world about Islam. As I read one hateful statement after another, I knew there was no argument I could make that has not been made before on this. I can’t convince a close-minded person that Islam isn’t evil because I can understand why they have those views.
I beg though for the benefit of a doubt, for people to pause and check facts. Whatever you believe in, I require that you summon some common sense. Allah created the Muslims AND non Muslims of the world; He does not require one half of his creations to kill the other half. Study the soothing beautiful words of the Quran; don’t let anyone quote it out of context for you. The one I read and love with every inch of my being does not promote evil. Look back at history and study the life of the man, Muhammad SAW whose life all true Muslims try to emulate. He was not a murderer! He did not hold women and children hostage. He only ever raised arms (after years and years of persecution) to liberate his self.
We as today’s Muslims don’t do Islam justice. Now more than ever, when our dear religion is suffering all sorts of ridicule, we need to do our bit to show the world how beautiful it really is. This isn’t what Muhammad SAW and his companions lived and died for. I don’t want to begin to imagine what they think of us. I believe it falls upon all of us to be good ambassadors for the sake Allah. Show love where you can, more importantly to those who don’t share our faith. This is the only way we can dissociate ourselves and Islam from this insanity.
May the evil seeds that have grown in the hearts of these men be their undoing. May Allah in his infinite mercy expose them for what they are. May He give strength to the family of every single person who has lost their life to these acts of cowardice. The REAL Islam sympathizes with you; our hearts go out to you. May you find ease.
