Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State, who had expressed loyalty to Alhaji Kawu Baraje led faction of the party yesterday made a u-turn by expressing support to the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur led faction for the party.
In Kaduna also, just a week after the organizing secretary of the new splinter group in the state, Isaac Bodams parted ways with the new PDP, another founding member, Gideon Morik, has also withdrawn his membership of the new PDP.
Morik who spoke to journalists after a courtesy call on Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, renounced being in the new group adding that he was not aware of any faction of the party in Kaduna State and that there is only one PDP.
Briefing newsmen at the end of a reconciliation meeting presided over by Alhaji Bilya Sanda, the chairman of the new PDP in Katsina, Alhaji Bala Saulawa said “the issue of the existence of new PDP in Katsina has been shoved aside”.
He said they have all agreed to give their support to the Katsina State PDP under the leadership of Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema as well as the Alhaji Bamaga Tukur-led PDP at the national level.
Alhaji Bala Saulawa explained that they have suspended the activities of the new PDP in the state and given the government enough time to loot into their problems, noting that “we have told the governor our problems and he had pledged to look into them so we have to give him time.”
Sanda also told newsmen that the groups have agreed to sheath their swords in the interest of unity, progress and development of the party and the state as well.
