MEND threatens attack on Chevron's tank farm

THE Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta has threatened to attack Chevron Tank Farm in Escravos in Warri, Delta State, on Independence Day.

MEND in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, warned workers at the Chevron Tank Farm in Escravos to vacate the premises.

"We use this medium to advise workers at the Chevron Tank Farm in Escravos to evacuate the premises as mortar attacks are imminent on Tuesday, October 01, 2013 from 00:01Hrs Nigerian time," the statement issued on Wednesday read.

MEND expressed satisfaction with the progress of its 'Hurricane Exodus' and maintained that the sustained sabotage of pipelines had significantly reduced the country's oil production level.

The militant group vowed to continue to ignore the activities of crude oil merchants within the Niger Delta, adding that their (crude oil merchants) activities was assisting it to achieve its aim of reducing Nigeria's oil output in 2015.
