ICPC STAFF ARRESTED OVER ATTEMPT TO DUPE INEC COMMISSIONER

A staff of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Crimes (ICPC) in Uyo, Mr. Felix Omolasho has been arrested by the police in Calabar over  alleged attempt to dupe the Cross River State  Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Mike Igini.
Our correspondent reports that the chairman of ICPC, Mr Ekpo Nta, pleaded that he should be left off hook for him as he had already ordered that Omolasho and other criminally minded staff of the anti-graft body be tried and summarily dismissed if found guilty.
The REC confirmed that Omolasho sought audience with him saying his boss, one Mr Nnaju in the Akwa Ibom State ICPC office in Uyo, mandated him to call on him to obtain details and guidelines as well as adequate transport logistics to enable them supervise and monitor the upcoming September 21 Cross River State local government council elections.
Igini said he had to delay the ICPC staff to enable him carryout investigation.
Presenting Omolasho before the NUJ Zone F delegation led by the vice chairman, Uzaka Seiyefa, who led officers of the Cross River State NUJ to Igini, the INEC boss said, “When I concluded my investigation, I discovered that he was out to defraud INEC, so I put a call to Mr Ekpo Nta, but he was out of the country.  I made other calls, including the police because I know that it is not the duty of INEC to supervise council election but that of CROSIEC.  So how can his boss send him to me, asking for transport fare and other logistics”.
Omolasho, on his part, said he mistook INEC for CROSIEC, the electoral umpire in the state.
